1. The benefit of the upstream-most hydropower project should be recognized from the increment of power energy quality and power and hydraulic compensations for cascade stations.2 For the hydraulic structure layout in the karst area, it is the key to use available impervious watertight layer and avoid unfavorable karstic hydrogeologic conditions.3. In the design of high concrete-faced rockfill dam in the narrow valley area, the slope excavation and stability of the abutment should be put into consideration in particular. The dam stress deformation is about 30 ~ 50% less than that of the wide valley due to three-dimension arching effect. As a result of this, the high quality embankment is required.
