In high temperature, high pressure coat gas filtration, variations in pressure loss and face velocity have to be controlled during filter cleaning to reduce influence on other facilities. Those variations were higher in off-line cleaning than in on-line pulse jet cleaning. Numerical calculations showed short pulse cleaning was the most successful in reducing these variations. During higher cleaning velocities, the cleaning pressure varied along with the filter. Such variations were more distinctive in pulse jet cleaning. When the jet entered the filter directly, cleaning pressure did not occur near the inlet. To have effective cleaning throughout the whole filter, a diffuser or entrance region is necessary.
