A series of wet grinding experiments by a vertical type planetary ball mill with various composite grinding balls were carried out using calcite powder as sample, from comparison of data of particle size distribution from monosized grinding balls and composite grinding balls, the grinding rate for composite grinding balls of q=0.3 was improved up 27 % compared with that of the small monosized grinding balls of d_B=2.58 mm By analysis of the grinding kinetics, the particle size distribution of ground products was calculated by the following equation, R(x, t)=R(x, 0) ·Exp(-Kx~(1.34)·l~(0.75)), where the value of grinding rate constant K was varied from 0.029 to 0.084 μm~(-1.34)· h~(0.75) according to the distribution of composite grinding balls.
