This paper proposes a media synchronization method for motion video which is stored in a remote database connected by a highspeed digital network. We first discuss a model of our problem and explain the basic synchronization method which compensates many kinds of delays in our system. Then, the proposed method is applied to JPEG and MPEG video data and a synchronization strategy is shown which takes into account the data structure specific to JPEG and MPEG formats. A mathematical analysis and a computer simulation will be given for demonstrating the validity of our approach. Finally, we will briefly refer to a prototype synchronization system realized by the proposed method.
