The paper relates the experiences of the authors in developing flight software for the Clementine spacecraft. The functions of that software are briefly described. The emphasis of this paper is on the unusual approaches used to develop the software in a relatively short time. Lessons learned from that experience are related. The scope of the paper covers from the definition of software requirements through support of operations through the entire mission.
