Applications of a Universal Sensor Interface Chip in Smart Sensor Systems

ERA Technology, in conjunction with European partners in the EUREKA project JAMIE, has developed a Universal Sensor Interface Chip (USIC). The USIC represents a highly flexible sensor interfacing block designed to support a wide range of instrumentation and sensor applications. Its combined analogue and digital features enables it to be configured to create many smart sensor systems often using the minimum of external components. The measurement of voltages, resistances, currents, capacitances and frequencies with a resolution of up to 20 bits is combined with local intelligence for configuration, calibration, signal conditioning and interfacing .
