APPLICATION OF INTRINSICALLY CONDUCTIVE POLYMERS FOR ANTISTATIC FOOTWEAR

Reasons for using melt-processable conductive polymer blends in antistatic footwear are discussed. Prototype shoes have been manufactured using a commercially available polyaniline/vinyl elastomer blend and subjected to a program of testing for ESD effects. The shoe soles exhibited excellent ESD properties which were further confirmed by wear testing in an industrial clean-room.
