Unique polymer blends may be created by in-situ melt grafting of polyglutarimides with polycarbonate and polyesters. These blends may also contain particulate impact modifiers which serve to further enhance the impact resistance of the grafted blends. The level and type of grafting may be controlled to a surprising extent by the use of alkali-metal catalysis in a continuous reactive melt processing step, and by the amount of acid and anhydride functionality on the polyglutarimide backbone.
