摘要

The paper introduces the development of the automatic train protection (ATP) system for Chinese Railway. In order to ensure train operation safety, for railway network with complicated conditions where automatic train control (ATC) and automatic train operation (ATO) is difficult to be adopted, ATP system should be used. In the ATP system, there are two kind of train braking methods: service braking and emergency braking. In the paper, the calculation formula for train service braking, the factors affecting the braking and the features of Chinese Railway Network are also described and analyzed. The configuration of the ATP system with the nine subsystems is given in the paper as well.
