THEMES OF DIGITAL TERRESTRIAL TELEVISION BROADCASTING(DTTB) AND ACTIVITIES OF ITU-R TG11/3

Since emergence of ATV (Advanced TV) by the U.S.A., the development of DTTB(Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting) has been proceeded in the world. However, a system has not been put into operation yet. It is said that there are a lot of themes to be solved to complete the system. They are video coding including video quality as HDTV, multiplexing, error correcting coding, modulation, frequency planning, the development of new date services, the strategies of the system introduction, etc. To resolve the above themes and standardize DTTB, ITU-R TG 11/3 was established and has been working since 1992, and activating to produce New Recommendations.In spite of these themes, the age of DTTB will certainly come in the future. In a sense, we are facing a monumental time of transformation of broadcasting.
