AN EXPLORING STUDY ON THE PREPARATION OF PHOTOCHROMIC GLASS BY SOL-GEL METHOD

摘要

The photochromic glasses in the system of Na_2O - B_2O_3 - Al_2O_3-SiO_2 containing CuBr_2 and CdCl_2 as photosensitizers have been made by sol - gel method. The photochromic properties were measured. It has been found that the photochromic properties of glasses depend largly on the valencee of the copper cations in the glass. In addition, the factors affecting the valence of copper cations have been analyzed and discussed.
