National coal resource assessment:where in the united states will coal be mined in the 21ST century?

There are several publications that list,in tabular form,the coal resources or the coal reserves of the world,subdivided by continent,region,or country.In all of these the authors collect the best information that is available and attempt to report all values on the same bases so that the different national and regional estimates will be comparable.Compiling these estimates is a difficult task because there are no international standards for reporting resources and reserves plus the discussed in detail by Landis and Weaver,1993 [1].Although all such data sets are seriously flawed,they allow for comparing relative amounts of reserves/resources between countries and continents.
