Feature research has been pursued for some years as a key link between CAD and CAM within a wider context of a total computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) environment. In this paper, a data structure of feature representation and a object-oriented graph of feature dependency are proposed for feature parametrization. Then, a feature-based model-class hierarchy of component information model is described also. Finally, the author outlines a practical system overall architecture of feature-based modelling, which is designed for XuZhou Construction Machinery Group's Computer Integrated Manufacture System (XCM-CIMS).
