This paper deals with the result of vibration studies for condition monitoring of a Boiler Feed Pump in a Thermal Power Plant having three 500 MW and three 200 MW units. Samples of vibration spectrum signatures covering wide frequency range for different flow rates of a pump feeding one of the 500 MW were obtained using a microprocessor controlled vibration spectrum analyzer. The analysis of these results are discussed here. The results emphasize the need and importance of condition monitoring at off design conditions in deciding the trouble free range of operation of the pump, in addition to decide the need of maintenance service or not.
