ATM best-effort service and its management in the LAN

摘要

Best-effort service is proposed in ATM LANs to support bursty data traffic and use efficiently the available bandwidth. We propose here a hop-by-hop backpressure mechanism to protect the network and insure fairness among best-effort sources. We present performance results of the mechanism and study its compatibility with the ITU Recommendations in progress.
