Bandwidth allocation in DQDB

摘要

In this paper, we study the means of bandwidth allocation in DQDB. We give an overview of the services to be provided by DQDB and their requirements. We present a collection of different allocation schemes and select the most appropriate scheme for VBR services, the Guaranteed Bandwidth (GBW) protocol. It will be discussed in more detail how the GBW protocol fits into the DQDB node architecture and how it may be used for bandwidth allocation for different services. It comes clear which is the preferable solution for a DQDB standard.
