Demand Priority is the Media Access Control protocol of the 100VG-AnyLAN Local Area Network, which is now being developed and standardised within the IEEE 802.12 committee. 100VG-AnyLAN allows users of the widely installed IEEE 802.3 10Base-T and IEEE 802.5 (token ring) networks to upgrade to 100 Mb/s without having to change their installed host sofrware or their cabling investment. Demand Priority has 2 priority levels, and this allows it to support real time multimedia applications.
