Radio-frequency interference generated by a high-voltage system with vacuum insulation

Abstract: The paper presents a problem of radio-frequency interference (RFI) generated by complex high-voltage insulating system, i.e. extinguishing chamber of vacuum interrupter. A typical RFI measurement system with receiving antenna has been used to investigate prebreakdown phenomena in the extinguishing chamber. The experimental results allow to decide whether the vacuum chamber may be a source of RFI. Moreover, a strong relation between breakdown voltage and the RFI level in prebreakdown stage has been shown.!4
