SLOTTED ALOHA IN ZONE STRUCTURED MOBILE PACKET RADIO NETWORKS

We study a zone structured network which consists of several base stations and many mobile terminals.The base stations have their coverage areas which may overlap each other.Terminals move from gone to zone and transmit their packets according to the slotted ALOHA protocol.We develop an analytic model where Markov chains are used to describe the changes of locations and operation modes for a terminal.Analytic techniques to evaluate static and dynamic perfofinances of the system sre presented.Numericsl results and their intuitive interpretations are shown to examine the effect of zone overlapping,mobile speed,etc.
