Customer Network Management for B-ISDN/ATM Services

摘要

The introduction of B-ISDN and especially ATM in the public networks will happen in stages.Initially,simple ATM bearer services using provisionable Dermanent ATM vinual connections can be offered to support virtual private metropolitan and wide area networking for corporate customers.These ATM bearer services will then evolve to support B-ISDN bearer and multimedia services in the future.The logical connectivity offered by the initial ATM bearer services will allow customers to create their virtual private networks within the public ATM networks.This paper discusses a potential customer network management(CNM)service that would allow customers to effectively manage and control their virtual private networks as an integral part of their corporate private networks.It also presents a B-ISDN/ATM management architecture that will support this CNM service and its evolution.
