DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF UNSHIELDED AND SHIELDED TWISTED PAIR CONNECTING HARDWARE USED IN HIGH SPEED LAN APPLICATIONS

摘要

This paper presents the design and development of Stewart Connector Systems advanced modular jack and plug for high speed LAN applications. It covers the market need for such a connector, the initial assumptions made, the guide lines established by the EIA/TIA and how they impacted the design.The latter portion of the paper describes the design concept breakthrough that allowed the design to achieve the target Near End Cross Talk (NEXT) of -40 db at 100 MHz. The contact geometry is discussed and the test data is shown.
