In much of the modern world today, mobile devices are becoming ubiquitous. From cell phones to wireless PDA's, pagers and smart phones, the wave of mobile devices has exploded over recent years. Information in today's business world never stops. From mobile calls, pages, emails, business documents, faxes, pictures, text messages, voice messages and stock quotes all total in the billions daily. Businesses are continually faced with the challenge of meeting ever-changing information technology. This paper will discuss several wireless standards, specifically 802.11, 802.11b(Wi-Fi), 802.11a, 802.11g and how they support wireless communications technologies. This paper will also discuss Bluetooth and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and their significance in current wireless communications.
