Assimilabile organic carbon formation and control

摘要

Water s ources for theree major West Coast utilities were studied for the impacts of ozonation on levels of assimilable organic carbon (AOC). AOC is significant since it is an indicator of the potential for bacterial regrowth in the distribution system. Since ozonation in the U.S. will likley be used witout the biological processes common in Europe (e.g., slow sand filtration, GAC post-filtration, etc.) quantifying these levels and assessing the risk for biofilm development in the distribution system is important.
