Data integration in the RODIN multidatabase system

The problems of object identification and data integration inheterogeneous multidatabase systems are addressed. The requirement thatobject identity be an equivalence relation often is not considered, andis shown to require evaluation of recursive queries against externalschemas when translating even simple queries against integrated schemas.Data integration facilities which enforce the properties of objectidentity being an equivalence relation are presented, includingtechniques for translation of queries of the integrated data
