This paper addresses the design and realization of a multi-frequency receiving/transmitting system with VLSIC. The system adopts digital spectrum analysis for the first time to analyse and distinguish multifrequency signals, which makes the performance come up to the national standards and even surpass some of them. In consideration of such problems as poor quality of transmission, high interference and low signal to noise ratio (S/N) in our country's public communications networks,the system adopts an efficient detecting method of weak signals-"FFT + spectrum-analysis"and a respective auxiliary method to promote the connectivity of speech activities. We employ software techniques and a superior realization algorithm and put great emphasis on a highly parallelled pipeline operation mode and a flexible data organization mode,to ensure the best desired cost-performance ratio. The network operation behaviours of this system show that the system works stably,has an excellent anti-interference ability and can be easily adapted to be used in the multifrequency receiving/transmitting equipment.
