摘要

The present investigation deals with mechanical properties of burnt basic refractory bricks which have especially been investigated for fracture mechanical and elastic properties. The latter one have been determined by a resonant frequency and damping analyzer (RFDA). Besides the elastic moduli this technique provides damping of resonant frequencies. Especially for brittleness reduced materials like e.g. magnesia spinel bricks relatively high damping has been observed. From this the question arised whether a relation between damping and material brittleness can be found. The investigations documented here aim to clarify this question. Further the influence of brittleness on the dependence of eleastic moduli as determined by RFDA technique on excitation energy is considered.
