The existing pavement at the New Smyrna Beach Airport parking apron has been severely deteriorated. Alligator cracking in the asphalt, along with transverse, diagonal, and joint cracks in the concrete pavement were exhibited. The Florida Department of Transportation officials have collaborated in designing a new overlay as part of a research project. Proposal for the rehabilitation was the use of ultra-thin fiber reinforced concrete and its studies of the type and optimum content using polyolefin and polypropylene fibers. The UCF Circular Accelerated Test Track facility (UCF-CATT) apparatus was utilized to determine the optimum thickness, joint spacing, durability, and performance.
