Techniques are presented for determining the periodicity and scaleof texture; this information is used to define an adaptive transformbased on edge co-occurrence matrices for segmenting textured regions.The texture of the region is characterised by an orthogonaldecomposition of the co-occurrence matrix using 2-dimensional discreteHermite functions. The coefficients of this decomposition provide a loworder feature vector which can be used for texture classification
