A model-based object analysis method using polygonalrepresentation of the boundary for the recognition of imperfect andpossibly occluded 2-D industrial parts is described. The means ofrecognition leads reliably to the correct association of the subshapesmaking up the unknown object to those of the model. The scale factorbetween the object and the model is successfully estimated using a Houghtransform like method even when the object is flawed or partiallyoccluded. An example is given to illustrate the method
