A nonsvnchronous2 optical orthogonal-codedivision-multiple-access(OOCDMA) system, for the case of no thermal and avalanche photodiode(APD)noise, was recently introduced by Salehi,et al[2].One bit of user's data is transmitted per sequence-period in an OOCDMA system proposed by Salehi. In our paper,a nonsynchronous OOCDMA system that can transmit multibits per sequenceperiod is introduced, and APD and thermal noise, plus interference, are included. This multibits/sequence-period system is much better in bit error probability as well as log2F times higher in throughput than the 1 bit/sequenceperiod syrstem where F=sequence-length.Furthermore,an analysis is performed for the log2F bits/sequence-period system with a hard-limiter placed before the receiver.
