Online handwriting recognition-a survey

The state of the art of online handwriting recognition is surveyedbased on an extensive review of the literature. Shape recognitionalgorithms, preprocessing and postprocessing techniques, experimentalsystems, and commercial products are examined. It is found that onlinerecognizers, except for bar-code readers and other specializedequipment, are not applicable to machine-printed characters
