The basic principle of Equivalent Edge Currents (EEC) theory states that an asymptotic approximation to the scattered field or part thereof can be found by integrating hypothetical line currents placed along the edge of the scattering body [1], Since the derivation of EEC has been approached by a number of authors, different types and versions of these currents have emerged. Two types of EEC exist; these produce different parts of the scattered field. For each type, two versions exist; first version EEC are theoretically limited to be applied at caustics, whereas EEC of the second version are applicable for all field points. See section 2. A detailed comparative study of the different types and versions is given in [2].
