The problem of multiple scattering of a plane wave or a line source field by a planar array of parallel conducting strips is addressed. Two methods of solution are presented for each type of excitation. The first method is rigorous and based on the boundary value approach while the second is asymptotic and based on the Karp-Russek technique. One of the important applications of this problem is the simulation of cylindrical reflector antenna surfaces by N strips. Therefore, both methods are used to compute the echo width patterns for different configurations of strips due to plane wave incidence and the far field patterns of simulated cylindrical reflectors due to line source excitation. Comparison between patterns of simulated and solid cylindrical reflectors is presented to illustrate the validity of simulation.
