Dialomite is formed from skeleton remains of unicellular plants of diaton, and is a kind of typical diatomaceous biogenic deposit. Because of its unique porous structure, high porosity, low unit weight, large specific surface area, good thermal insulation and heat-darabitity, as well as certain adsorbabitity, diatomit is widely used in many industrial departments. The utilization of diatonute in Hannove of Germany in 1863 started the world's diatomite industry. At the begining, it was used as the stuffing of dynamite. Curing the 19305, diatomits as a fitter medium was widely used in some industrial departments, such as food, chemicals, petroleum, etc. Chinese diatomite industry began in the 1960s. At first, it was used as thermal insulation material, but then as carrier, functional stuffing and fitter medium. The diatomite industry in China is rather backward, and needs to be further developed.
