THE RESEARCH OF THE DEVELOPMENT AND UTILIZATION OF JILIN PROVINCE BENTONITE

This thesis discussed the possibility of the Ji Lin Ca-bentonite being used as drilling material.Bentonite is a kind of clay which contains principally the montmorillonite. Montmorillonite is a stratified silicate mineral whose structural unit is composed of two layers of silica oxid tetrahedron and one layer of aluminium oxide octahedron. There are two peculiarities in its structure: 1. The connection between its crystal basal layers are due to Van der Waals' force, the interaction of which is relatively weak.
