Motion Video, Still Frames, Digital Audio and Data-Compatible Recording on an Optical Video Disc

In this introduction, we briefly outline some of the current work and solutions to recording digital information (both data and audio) within analog video signals. In addition, we provide some background to our motivations and reasons why we were led to adapt the CD format as the recording and storage fomat for digital information on video discs in particular and video signals in general. The rest of the paper presents an outline of the actual CD audio and CD ROM formats, our proposed method of using the CD format in analog video signals, and a discussion concerning the implementation and possible problems of the format in the analog video signal domain.
