The paper introduces the raster scan graphics display model DGS-800 developed in the Department of Computer Science & Engneering of ZHejian University.This display device is suitable for application fields,such as CAD/CAM in various industries,office automation and business graphics,computer art,etc.Giving a brief summary on the specifications of DGS-800,the description of some design aspects of the raster scan graphics display are emphasized.They are the frane buffer organization of DGS-800,the addressing of the two-port memory,the access contention of the frame buffer,the refresh process of the frame buffer and the color look-up table.All these problems are the key techniques in the design of raster displays.Finally two illustrations are giving to show the DGS-800's capablities.The graphics display is the core device in the computer graphics systems and various CAD/CAM systems.The raster scan graphics display are well known for their rich color,ability to display either wire frame drawings or 3-D images with reality,no flickers and low cost,and have domained the display marcket now.The paper describes a low cost raster scan graphics display,the DGS-800,developed recently by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering of Zhejian University.The specifications and some design principles are given.
