Starting from the notions 'communication', 'application entity' and 'application process' of the ISO Reference Model for Open Systems Interconnection. A refinement of the notion 'entity' into a static entity and dynamic entities is introduced. This refinement is used in modeling distributed applications as cooperation of application entities.'Fhe notions application services and relay applications serve for interrelating different distributed applications,thus forming major distributed applications.
