DACS is a digital system for providing digital networking on circttits which are expected to be active for ling periods of time. It provides a means to substitute leased service for high traffic volume trunks which impair traffic concentration and trurking statistics if supplied by message switches. At present DACS terminates 128 twenty-four channel DS-1 signals at a 1.544 Mb/sec line rate. DACS can interconnect n × 64 KB/sec channels between any of these DS-1 lines. By denoting one of the DS-1 terminations for test access, monitor or split type access can be made to any of the DS-0 circuits connected through DACS. The cross-connection between DS-0 charnnels and test access to a specific 64 Kb/sec channel can be controlled locally or from a remote location.DACS will terminate up to 112 thirty-two channel 2.048 Mb/sec CEPT signals. It will accept both CEPT signals and North American Digroup signals and interconnect 64 Kb/sec signals between them preserving sigraling integrity and providing A to μlaw ooding or μ to A.law as required. It is also being extended to provide subrate crossconnection for Digital Data Service and can presently switch multi DS-0 channels up to the full line rate keeping digital integrity. It provides digital multipoint bridging for full period voice conferencing or data bridging networks.
