A NEW INSTRUMENT - THE STREAMING CURRENT DETECTOR

A new instrument is described which was conceived and developed specifically for the continuous control of flocculation of sewage and for related problems such as the assay of charge-influencing materials. It is an alternating streaming current device packaged in rugged portable form to provide a simple and convenient means for determining the sign and a quantity related to the electrical charge density on colloidal particles. Remote and unattended operation is entirely practical as well as use in continuous control loops. Valid readings are obtained in relatively salty samples .
