Ga chromatography-negative chemical ionization mass spectrometry (GC-NICIMS) was employed to determien nitro-polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (nitro-PAHs) in urban air particutates. Four nitro-PAHs, 2-nitrofluorene, 9-nitroanthracene, 2-nitrofluoranthrene, 1-nitrofluorene, were identified by comparing their retention time and mass spectra with standards.. The same air particulates sample was analyzed by gas chromatography-electron impact positive ion mass spectrometry (GC-EIPIMS). The comparison between GC-NICIMS and GC-EIPIMS shows that the GC-EIPIMS for determinign of nitro-PAHs. Internal standard quantification methdo can improve the precision of GC-NICIMS analytical data.
