A number of studies have been carried out on latex film formation because of its great importance in apint, coating, paper and adhesive industries. Latex film formation can be considered as a special case of the interface condensed issues such as crack healing and polymer welding. In both case, strength development is dependent on polymer chain interdiffusion requirements. Several theories have been proposed based on de Gennes' reptation diffusion model and commonly assume that the formation of entanglements among polymer chains across the interface is directly responsible for the development of material strength.
