A study on mutagenicity reduction by O_3-GAC process in drinking water purification

摘要

Ames test is commonly used in assaying the mutagenic effect of chemicals pollutants present in water. The mutagen removal capacity of O_3-GAC Process and sand filtration is compared in this paper. The test result showed that the mutagenic activity of water was reduced greatly by ozonation and eliminated through granular activated carbon absorption. On the contrary, the conventional sand filtration process has no effect on the removal of mutagenic compounds.
