摘要

Recently, rapid environmental changes are taking place in arid and semi-arid regions including closed lakes of the inland part of the Asian continent. This paper describes a method for production of NOAA AVHRR mosaic image data sets and analysis results for the environmental changes using the data sets in Central Asia. Multi-temporal and wide-ranged NOAA AVHRR mosaic image data sets covering this area were created to monitor the land cover changes. Some remarkable changes in the last about 40 years of the closed lakes such as Aral Sea and Caspian Sea were analyzed and investigated by using time serious satellite data with meteorological observation data. It was presumed that the land cover changes by human activities and climatic changes in the north affected environmental change in the object area.
