A novel multi-octave 22.5/spl deg/ and 11.25/spl deg/ MMIC phase shifter with a sharing Lange coupler

Design, fabrication and characterization of a novel ultra-wideband, 22.5/spl deg/ and 11.25/spl deg/ monolithic phase shifter with a sharing Lange coupler is described. The topology was specifically selected to minimize process variations on performance. Low peak phase error (/spl les/2/spl deg/) low VSWR (/spl les/1.5)and low insertion loss variations (/spl les/2.6/spl plusmn/0.4 dB) are exhibited over 5 to 20 GHz frequency range. The chip size is 4.2 mm/spl times/0.46 mm/spl times/0.1 mm.
