Indoor propagation experiments in a shielding studio were carried out to obtain information on the multipath propagation at 2 GHz. This paper describes indoor propagation property in the shielding TV studio and applicability of the geometrical optics method to the propagation prediction. First, the reflectivity of walls and a floor of the shielding studio are evaluated. The authors analyze the delay profiles and electric field strength distribution in the studio with the geometrical optics method using evaluated reflectivity. The geometrical optics method is found to be practically applicable to predict the multipath propagation inside the shielding studio. The delay spread can be evaluated from calculations approximately within a 10% deviation when multiple reflection up to 12 times is taken into account. This calculation method can also predict the overall trend of the electric field strength distribution in the shielding studio.
