For many applications the monitoring of viscosity is of crucial importance. Due to their small size and the absence of macroscopically moving parts, microacoustic devices are an attractive alternative to conventional in-line viscometers. In this contribution, the investigation of the rheological behavior for different groups of oil-based liquids by means of a thickness-shear mode (TSM) resonator is discussed. The obtained results are then compared to those of conventional viscometers.
