A 3-D model has been designed to describe and to analyse the dispersion of nuclear contaminants in marine ecosystems. The model has been validated taken the Baltic Sea as scenario and using the Cs-137 with origin in the Chernobyl accident as the substance that has suffered the dispersion. In this paper, special focus will be given to describe the main results obtained in the validation exercise performed through the implementation and coupling in the global model of a submodel that takes into account the fact that one fraction of the Cs-137 present in the Baltic Sea will be associated to the suspended matter present in the water column, and consequently will tend to be deposited in the bottom.
