The impact of history and technology on women's careers

摘要

The impact of the information revolution and the feminist movement on the lives of three women is discussed. The women were born in the decade when the first modern computers were built (1940s) and entered the workforce in the decade when the National Organization for Women (NOW) was founded (1960s). All three women rose to management levels in the computing industry, significantly beyond their early expectations. The paper concludes by discussing the views of the three women on improvements that should occur for women in computing as we enter the next century.
