A low-temperature multi-effect absorption solar desalina- tion system was designed and the variation curves of the yield rate and the performance PR of the system with its operating temperature were given through the indoor steady state experiment. The correlations between the desalination unit and solar heating systems with different sorts of collectors, respectively, are analyzed through simulation with the experimental results and by utilizing the hourly irradiance and daily mean ambient temperature. The influences of the heat performance and price of the solar collectors on the freshwater production cost are discussed. The optimized parameters are given.
